One Year Course – Old Master Drawing: learning in the workshop

£1,200.00

This full academic year course puts you in the position of an apprentice learning to draw in the workshop of a Renaissance artist. Across the four terms you will learn the fundamental principles of design which will enable you to draw the body, the head, figural compositions, and to draw from nature or imagination with conviction and confidence. The outset of the course implants the discipline required to master drawing by going over the foundational learning process of artists in the Renaissance which you will then be able to apply anywhere. This will be your grounding and knowledge-base which empowers you to emerge as a new artist.

You will see yourself using the techniques and methods of old masters like Michelangelo, Leonardo and Verrocchio in your own way. The true historical methods are revived in this course by you as you undergo the historical learning process which enabled the Renaissance Masters to achieve their style, technique and level of creative freedom and authenticity. You will be empowered by channelling the true legacy and essence of Renaissance Drawing as a contemporary artist.

You will be drawing with an authentic and living bond with the old master tradition rooted in the Renaissance workshop practice of the 15th century. This course will train you in the same manner as those who were trained in such workshops; unlocking your potential to draw with spontaneity, discipline, self-affirmation and with a moral continuity with the old masters.

The course will take place through the Academic Year on Saturday’s 2–4 pm UK / 9-11 am NY Live on Zoom. Price: £1200. Teaching takes place in five week blocks with breaks in between.
